I’m not justifying or condemning immigration. I work with migrants and refugees and understand that movement can provide both protection and opportunity. What I was trying to convey, and what happened in Palestine, is that mass immigration of Jewish settlers came with the premeditated purpose of establishing a Jewish state on that land and forcibly expelling the Palestinians who lived there, who had families and livelihoods and a deep-rooted culture there. That is colonialism, not just immigration.
